Managing Knowledge Risks

Introduction:

Researchers have demonstrated that managing knowledge can add substantially to the chances of success for IT-enabled business projects.

Based on research, we suggest five broad principles that are critical to understanding and managing knowledge risks in your next innovative project.

Research Method

Dr. Blaize Horner Reich of Simon Fraser University and her colleagues spent three years examining knowledge-risk management through interviews and a survey

The five principles:

  • Establish a learning climate.
  • Mitigate knowledge loss.
  • Create channels for knowledge flow.
  • Develop a shared team memory.
  • Use the risk register.
